Start with what you sell
Physical products need stock, variants and delivery. Digital products need access rules, download delivery or course access. List these workflows first so you can compare proposals for the same scope.
Map checkout and payments
Decide on guest checkout, customer accounts, cash on delivery and online payment options. Confirm payment-provider onboarding and charges directly with the provider. Include failed payments, duplicate callbacks and order confirmation in the test plan.
Connect orders to operations
Specify who updates stock, confirms orders and handles returns. Plan delivery areas, courier integration and order status messages. Your team should be able to follow one order from checkout through fulfilment.
Test the complete mobile journey
Review a real product, variant selection, checkout and confirmation on a phone. Include slow connections, empty stock and cancellation. Use clear product descriptions, useful images and crawlable product URLs so shoppers and search engines can understand the catalogue.
Agree ownership and ongoing costs
Record domain, hosting, data export, licence rights and support responsibilities. Ask which recurring costs sit outside the development quote. Use the client-care checklist before confirming your project.
